Chasm serving as a Joint Venture Design partner, is currently working on a task order for modernizing the landside components of the most traveled airport in the world. The primary design elements include two 864-foot-long, ETFE clad canopies that cover the north and south terminal roadways. The sweeping curve of the canopies will serve as the primary catalyst and brand for a new Atlanta airport experience. New facades draped with metal and fritted glass panels depict the surrounding forested terrain, while the expansive windows allow light to flood the ticket hall promoting a “green” passenger experience. Intuitive way-finding will make the transition beyond the ticket hall to the lush, park-like atrium accommodating to even the busiest of travelers. Chasm’s staff has been involved in all components of this very broad task order scope.
